Was it something I said?
Lonely Planet has come out with its annual "Blue List" book of favorite destinations around the world.
And, despite our own self-perceptions, Canada was not chosen as the "friendliest country on the planet."
Ireland won, and who can begrudge them that? But Canada wasn't even in the top 10. We're not as friendly as The United States, Malawi, Fiji, Indonesia, Samoa, Thailand, Turkey or Vietnam.
Vietnam, Thailand and Fiji I can maybe understand. But Indonesia and Turkey? Aren't large parts of Turkey still run by tribal Warlords? And how does the United States make the list but not its kinder, gentler cousin to the North?
Maybe we're just not perceived as being friendly in an "interesting" way...
